The Vibrant Villages grants programme provided financial support to local rural post offices and retailers to help improve their sustainability, and to existing community spaces to provide new services in their communities.

Grants were available in Leicestershire villages with a population of less than 7,000 residents, and priority was given to smaller settlements with limited services.

£240,000 was awarded over a 3 year period to 44 shops and post offices and 14 community spaces.

During the programme
92.5 jobs were created or safeguarded
55 businesses were assisted to improve their performance
£422,477 of private sector investment
70 people were assisted in developing new skills
14 new community facilities were created
