Leicestershire Rural Partnership recognises the importance of public and community transport for those people living in remote rural areas. Certain groups can feel particularly isolated or can have difficulty accessing services, these include: the elderly, households with no or only one car, people with disabilities or health problems, and young people. There is also an increasing number of people that would prefer alternative travel solutions that are more beneficial to the environment.
To improve the provision and take-up of public and community transport the LRP works closely with Leicestershire County Councils Passenger Transport Unit and Voluntary and Community providers.
