The LRP has a high rural profile which it can use to successfully lobby for issues it feels strongly affect life in rural Leicestershire.

The partnership takes an active role in rural-proofing, making sure that rural needs and circumstances are taken into account when developing policies and delivering programmes, both locally, regionally and nationally.

In the past year, we have rural-proofed a number of sub-regional documents including the Sustainable Community Strategy, Local Area Agreement 2, Sub-Regional Economic Strategy and Leicestershire Strategy for London 2012.
