Priority 6: Effective and integrated public and community transport provision including targeted and innovative travel solutions which meet specific needs, especially for older and young people.

Key activity for this priority has been:

  • The Wheels to Work (W2W) programme has continued and expanded to include anyone aged 16+, over 100 clients on the scheme in the last year
  • A bespoke W2W website has been developed (launched Q1 2013-14)
  • Bus fare refunds were made available from Coalville and Loughborough library for Charnwood and NWLresidents – from April to October 2012 211 residents made use of the service using it on more than one occasion
  • Community Transport operators worked with partners to identify a range of software solutions to improve booking and performance
  • The Rual Community Council Leicestershire and Rutland submitted a Phase 1 Big Lottery Bid for the development of a Community transport model based on good neighbours schemes
