Leicestershire Rural Partnership recognises the importance of public and community transport for those people living in remote rural areas. Certain groups can feel particularly isolated or can have difficulty accessing services, employment or training. These include older people, households with no or only one car, people with disabilities or health problems, and young people. There are also an increasing number of people who would prefer alternative travel solutions that are more beneficial to the environment.

To improve the provision and take-up of public and community transport, the LRP works closely with Leicestershire County Council's Sustainable Travel Group and community transport operators.

Community Transport

Community Transport is available for people who find it difficult or are unable to use public transport because they are elderly or mobility impaired/disabled and for those who are rurally isolated. Community transport can be used for getting to doctors appointments, visiting friends and relatives, shopping and social activities

The link below provides general information about community transport across Leicestershire with further links to providers. It is very simple to use and will help people to find information for themselves, family members or friends no matter where they live.

Wheels to Work

Don't let transport be a barrier to work or training

If you have confirmed employment or training but no way to reach it Wheels to Work could offer you your own moped or scooted, with training, to help get you on the road.
