New sub-regional arrangements
Within Leicester and Leicestershire new governance structures to support housing, transport, planning and the economy have been established. This new way of working will provide a more joined up approach to addressing economic priorities in the sub-region.
Within these new arrangements, the LRP has been recognised as the lead group for rural economic development. This will require the LRP to set local priorities which meet the needs of rural businesses and communities, as well as secure funding and commission suitable interventions to address these priorities. We will work closely with other groups on issues such as rural skills, affordable housing and transport.
For more information about the new sub-regional arrangements please go to the Leicestershire Together website.
Rural Economic Priorities
The LRP had developed and endorsed its Rural Economic Priorities, 2009-12. A work programme is currently being developed through the LRP Strategy and Performance Group to support delivery of these priorities. The priorities will be updated following the pending sub-regional economic assessment.
