Working with the Leicestershire Local Area Agreement (LAA)
The launch of the Leicestershire Rural Strategy 2007-2014 provided an evidence base and broad consultation to help rural-proof the Leicestershire Sustainable Community Strategy. This has led to 'rural' and 'access to service' issues being recognised as high county-wide priorities within the strategy.
Work is now ongoing to develop agreed local indicators within the Local Area Agreement 2 framework to support access to service issues in rural areas. We will also be working with key theme groups to ensure, where necessary, delivery is monitored and equitable to rural areas.
The chair of the LRP sits on Leicestershire Local Strategic Partnership Board and there are two representatives attending the LAA Leads Plus group. There are also Rural Champions on four of the LAA themes.
