'The next 20....'

Joyce Noon from CPRE Charnwood was the winner of the Prize Draw. Joyce won a Taste Leicestershire Stay, Play and Explore experience presented by Janine Williams of Leicestershire Promotions.

On Tuesday 10th June, Leicestershire Rural Partnership held its 13th Rural Conference at Scalford Hall nr Melton Mowbray in picturesque rural Leicestershire.

The Partnership welcomed approximately 80 delegates from a range of backgrounds including local authorities, businesses, parish councils, voluntary and community groups.

The day started with speakers from Defra, the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership and colleagues from Warwickshire Rural Growth Network who outlined current opportunities for the rural economy nationally and in the region.

After the break communities were the focus, including speakers from ACRE (Action for Communities in Rural England) looking at the building blocks for strong and resilient communities; and Leicestershire County Council who outlined their Draft Community Strategy and ongoing plans to work with communities in Leicestershire.

The afternoon sessions were interactive to gather views on the four key priorities of the Draft Rural Framework 2014-2020 .

  • Active and Inclusive Parish Councils
  • Working with communities to deliver local services
  • A thriving and sustainable rural economy
  • More rural affordable housing

The event was well received by all who attended and we will be using the feedback received to inform our delivery programme for the coming months.
