The I&ES team provide local communities with the I.T. tools which help them revitalise their communities, create new connections between residents and service providers, and deliver an equality of service and opportunity across the county.
Leicestershire Villages is an online community for residents of, and visitors to, Leicestershire. The website is managed by local residents and enables people to find out more about the areas and settlements of Leicestershire, as well as to get involved in activities both online and offline.
We are now able to integrate the services of Leicestershire’s parishes, districts and the county into a one-stop A-Z listing – making it much easier for people to find ‘who in local Government provides what’.
An MOT process ensures parish websites are maintained to the highest standards to deliver consistent, quality online information and services. Over 65% of sites achieved the basic rate or higher, and exemplars include Asfordby, Birstall, Braunstone Town, Broughton Astley, Measham and Woodhouse.
The website infrastructure is now used by a ‘family’ of inter-connecting sites including villages, parishes, Community Forums, Leicestershire Research Online, Neighbourhood Watch, Voluntary Action Networks, Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Community Council and the Leicestershire Rural Partnership.
