Following a period of poor sales, resulting in the loss of the shop's National Lottery terminal, the shop decided to access support from Leicestershire County Council. This support took the form of a Retail Assessment from Kerching Retail worth £500, funded by the County Council.

“Kerching retail consultation gave us the confidence and the vision to realise the full potential of our store.”

Kerching Retail conducted a thorough assessment and made several recommendations on how the shop could improve their sales and service. The shop made changes including; stocking fresh and local produce, selling hot and cold refreshments, taking card payments, improving opening hours, and using social media to promote the store.

The shop has described the response from customers as "overwhelmingly positive", customers have been very supportive and appreciative of the new local services being provided by the shop. The shop has reported doubled takings and no sign of this trailing off.
