Priority 1: Active, inclusive and empowered parish councils and meetings able to represent and support rural communities and lead innovative service delivery at the local level.

Key activity for this priority has been:

  • 481 places filled for Parish and Town Councils on Leicestershire and Rutland Association for Local Councils training.
  • A survey with Parish and Town councils on rural issues and local rural priorities to help improve knowledge and enhance partnership working from a county-wide to parish level. The responses have been collated and summarized. (A full report with analysis and recommendations due to be issued in Quarter 1 of 2013-14)
  • A 'First Contact' pilot scheme with Parish Councils. 10 Parish Councils have volunteered to take part in the pilot which commenced in Quarter 4 of 2012-13.
